The Kennedy's family

The Kennedy family was the most famous American family. This family arrived in Boston in 1848 because in these period there was a terrible famine in Ireland.

When this family arrived, Patrick Kennedy found a job making barrels. But he died when he was only 35.The family was very poor, but he worked very hard, saved money, and eventually opened his own pub.

His son PJ, Patrick Joseph, was born in Boston in 1858, and he became a well know person in the local Irish community.

Pj's son Joseph senior was born in Boston in 1888 and he studyied in Harvard University. In 1914 he married Rose Fitzgerald, the daughter of a local politician, and they had nine children.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Joseph Kennedy became a very rich businessman and also a very ambitous man.He wanted his eldest son, Joseph Kennedy junior, to go into politics and became one of the leaders of the country, but he was killed in a plane crash durig the World War II.

Joseph Kennedy Junior

After Joseph J., the 2nd son of Joseph S., John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was elected to the congress on 1947 and in 1960 he was elected president , the youngest in American story.

He introduced new people and new ideas into the government. It seemed to be the beginnig of a new period for America. But it was also a dangerous moment .In 1962 the Soviet Union placed nuclear missiles on Cuba, just a few miles from the US coast, but J.F.K. persuaded the soviets to remove the missiles.

The John F. Story ended tragically, because on 22nd November 1963 he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. His assassination is still a mistery today.
